I am hesitant to post before I see something, because you know, plans change, but I am looking forward to seeing NOPE tonight in IMAX. Jordan Peele has had two fantastic horror films so far, and from what I’ve heard, this one is an incredible third film. Are my expectations high? Yes. Will that influence my review? Maybe. But having high expectations (being stoked and excited on something you’re anticipating) is fun.
Two reasons why I am stoked on NOPE:
1. Jordan Peele. Fantastic director. GET OUT and US were both incredible. Enough said.
2. THERE AREN’T ENOUGH UFO MOVIES. UFOs (or, to use the more up-to-date term, UAPs) are having a big moment. Congress is taking them seriously, the stigma is waning on military reporting, and there’s a lot more public transparency than we’ve had on the topic historically. What will this mean for extraterrestrial horror in entertainment? I don’t know and I’m excited to find out. NOPE is the first big UFO movie I can think of since all these new developments.
That’s where my head is at going in. I’m looking forward to dropping a review!
