July Theater Watchlist

It’s Saturday and I have writer’s block, so when in doubt, I just write about movies. Here is what July looks like in theaters for me:

NOPE – Jordan Peele, UFOs, what else do you want? I’ve seen the trailer for this so many times over the past few months, and every time, I’m so excited. The flying saucer design looks classic. There are not enough UFO/extraterrestrial movies, and with everything going on in Congress (UAP investigation etc.), I am expecting a new wave of UFO cinema. That’s a called shot, I suppose.

BLOBFEST – Every year, The Colonial theater hosts Blobfest, celebrating the 1958 film THE BLOB, which has several scenes filmed on location at The Colonial. I’ve never seen it, and this will be my first year at Blobfest. I’ve heard it’s a great time! I’m sure I’ll write about it.

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER – The previews for this one look like it could really be something different for the MCU. It’s directed by Taika Waititi, who came onto my radar with the HBO Max series OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH. If THOR shares much at all in common with OFMD, then it’s going to be charming, funny, and sweet. To be honest, a charming, funny, and sweet Thor movie sounds really good right now.

That’s all for now!
